In this respect, never forget that you are a freelancer who works for a customer. There’s no doubting that, after a number of weeks, we tend to feel like a member of the company itself. This is quite normal and it is also a sign that the mission is running smoothly. However, it’s important not to remember to keep a track of all opinions offered so that, when necessary, you can be prepared to handle the case if one of them has been misinterpreted or misused, which could take place in a matter of weeks or even months after having expressed it.
Doing so is common sense, but given the urgency of daily life, it is not always easy to do. While checking email, just ask your client to make you an archive folder, where you can transfer your emails regularly. At the end of the mission, simply copy these archives onto the server of the Legal Department and indicate their location to the legal director. Additionally, after getting formal consent from your client, you can copy your review to a USB key that you can then keep confidentially.
