  1. Introduction

Legalia is currently looking for a legal counsel to join the legal department of a blooming international company active in the industrial sector and having its headquarters located in Louvain-la-Neuve, near Brussels.

  1. Function

As Legal Counsel, you will:

  • As primary contact to client’s group central services and all business divisions, advise internal clients at a national and international level on various legal matters
  • Partner with the business and proactively anticipate potential issues, by providing pragmatic and useful solutions to business needs
  • Permanently update your skills and knowledge in respect of national and international legislation depending on the subjects you will handle to ensure that client’s activities remain in conformity with applicable laws, directives and regulations
  • Challenge the status quo of work processes and systems; elaborate, implement and enforce legal policies and procedures
  • Educate and provide training and guidance to the business

 More specifically, you will:

  • Formulate, draft, review and negotiate a wide variety of national or international commercial related documents (distribution, purchase, IT, services, etc.)
  • Support and advise on projects impacting the group’s structural evolution (investments, M&A and industrial partnerships)
  • Advise and support your internal clients on legal and strategic topics to enable them to meet their business objectives
  • Facilitate and collaborate in contract or dispute negotiations in close contact with the business, identifying and reporting legal risks and formulating alternative proposals
  • Advise company on strategies to prevent and settle disputes, manage litigation and supervise local lawyers
  • Support the continuous improvement of legal templates and increase the awareness of the business on legal matters

The geographic scope is Europe, CIS countries and MENA region. Occasional travel may be required.

  1. Profile

Our client is looking for a dynamic, self-motivated and collaborative team member who possesses superb judgment, and the ability to make decisions that balance the important business and legal priorities of the company.

  • You hold a Master degree in Law. Any additional international qualifications is an asset
  • You have a professional experience of 3 to 8 years in an international environment and can work autonomously. A previous experience in a multinational company or as an external advisor is appreciated
  • You have gained significant experience in international commercial, company law and other general business law matters. An experience in an international business law firm is a plus
  • You are fluent in English and French. Any additional European language is an asset
  • You have a sound understanding of business processes, have a pragmatic and solution oriented approach, and are able to communicate and operate in a multidisciplinary environment
  • You are customer focused, team player, with a sense of urgency
  • You have strong analytical and organizational skills
